Dear Fairview Families,
What a wonderful week we've had at Fairview! We had a fantastic time celebrating reading and books at our school's Book Fair. It was great to see so many students and families come together to find new stories to love.
Looking ahead, we're excited for our Get2Green Learning Garden cleanup this weekend. We would love to see you there to help us get our garden ready for the fall. It's a great opportunity to connect with other families and get our hands dirty for a good cause!
A friendly reminder that there will be no school on Monday, October 13 for a student holiday. We look forward to seeing all our students back and ready to learn on Tuesday, October 14.
Have a wonderful long weekend!
Samantha Goldstein

October 15, 2025 - 3 Hour Early Release at 12:55PM!
Hello Fairview Families! In order to ensure your child is dismissed accurately on October 15th, please make sure to update Pickup Patrol for your child's dismissal plan for October 15th in order to ensure all students are dismissed correctly. For the upcoming early release on Wednesday, October 15, your child will be dismissed using the indicated dismissal route in Pick Up Patrol.
-
If you are requesting that your child stay until 3:55pm, you will need to select the: "Stay Early Release Wednesday 10/15/25 until 3:55" option in plan changes for October 15.
-
If you want your child to dismiss at 12:55pm, you may leave your child's default plan as is, or make a plan change and put "dismiss at 12:55pm" in the notes.
-
PickUp Patrol will be closed October 15, 2025 in order to ensure we have an accurate count of students staying until 3:55pm and students leaving at 12:55pm.
Please contact FairviewESCommunications@fcps.edu, for any questions.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

Makeup Picture Day-October 29, 2025

October is National Principals Month!

This October, we're shouting it from the rooftops: Happy National Principals Month! And here at Fairview, we've got the best of the best—our amazing principal, Mrs. Goldstein!
Mrs. Goldstein isn't just a principal; she's our head cheerleader, our problem-solver, and the one who makes Fairview feel like a big family. From greeting us with a smile every morning to working behind the scenes to make sure we all succeed, her energy and dedication are contagious.
Let's show her some love! This month, take a moment to thank Mrs. Goldstein for everything she does. A little appreciation goes a long way in celebrating the heart and soul of our school!
Lightspeed Student Online Activity Reports for All Families
Starting October 12, 2025, all parents and caregivers with Records Access in SIS will automatically get a weekly email summarizing their student’s online activity.
- This is a great way for families to have a conversation with their student about being a good digital citizen and using technology responsibly.
- Many of the reports should highlight the websites frequently used at Fairview: Clever, ST Math, Lexia, Benchmark, Schoology, and Myon.
- These reports will be sent to the email addresses on file in SIS. If a family prefers not to receive the weekly emails, they can easily opt out by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the email.
For more information, families can visit the FAQ section on the Lightspeed Parent Report page on the FCPS website.
Cafeteria Initiatives – Volunteers & Donations Needed!
We are excited to launch two new initiatives in our cafeteria starting the week of September 15th:
-
Game Time After Lunch – Many students finish eating early, and we want to give them the chance to enjoy board and card games that encourage social interaction and turn-taking. If you’d like to support, please consider purchasing a game from our Amazon Wish List. We also welcome parent volunteers to help facilitate the games.
-
Share Table – Students will be able to donate unopened food and drinks at the end of lunch to reduce waste and support those in need. We are looking for parents to help us launch this initiative by teaching students how the Share Table works and assisting with transporting donations to a local food pantry.
If you are interested in volunteering with either of these projects, please reach out to Meghan Ehrman at mrehrman@fcps.edu.
Attention all Volunteers/Room Parents/Field Trip Volunteers
Ensuring Student Safety: Register for Volunteer FCPS at Fairview, our volunteers are a vital part of our school community. We deeply value the time and care they give to our students.
Recent updates to our volunteer process focus on one primary goal: keeping students safe.
These updates — such as checks against the sex offender registry and, in some cases, criminal background checks — are safety measures that will help us maintain a secure and supportive learning environment for every student in our care.
We encourage all our parents and community members interested in supporting our students by volunteering at school to visit [Volunteer FCPS], click “Learn More,” and then “Sign Up.” After you create a profile, you will view an orientation video and complete a volunteer application.
Volunteer FCPS ensures a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment at all of our schools. All volunteers must be registered in Volunteer FCPS. This includes individuals who volunteer to chaperone on field trips, work at book fairs, and help out regularly in classrooms, libraries, or cafeterias. Volunteers who work unsupervised with students will also be required to undergo a background check.
We understand these changes may seem disruptive, especially for long-time volunteers. Our intent is to ensure that our students feel safe and supported with each and every person they encounter at school.
As a reminder, all volunteers — and visitors to a school — are required to sign in by scanning their ID at our visitor kiosk. Visit the Volunteer FCPS Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more.
Kiss and Ride
We want to thank you for helping us keep our morning Kiss and Ride drop-off safe and efficient for all students. To make the process smoother each day, please keep the following reminders in mind:
-
Children should be seated on the right side of the car so they can exit directly onto the sidewalk. Students are not to get out on the left-hand side of the car in a parking lot with moving vehicles.
-
Adults should remain in the car—staff will be there to assist when possible, students need to be able to buckle themselves in and unbuckle themselves to get out as staff members are not allowed to assist with seatbelts. If your child needs assistance, once in the car pull into an empty parking spot and help buckle them in safely. This will keep kiss and ride moving without any backup.
-
Have your child ready to exit quickly and safely (backpack, coat, and other items in hand) so that the line can continue moving.
If your child is having difficulty with this, please consider practicing at home. Your partnership helps ensure that all children arrive at school safely and that our mornings run smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation and support!
