Mural and Mingle
Our mentors and mentees came together for a creative and collaborative art activity where each pair painted a piece of a mural. This meaningful experience allowed them to connect, reflect, and express themselves through art while contributing to a beautiful collective masterpiece. A huge thank you to Ms. Jennifer Boyle, one of our amazing school counselors, for organizing and leading this inspiring event!

Family Luncheon
On Friday, we hosted our first Family Luncheon! We were so happy to welcome so many families who joined their children for lunch. What a wonderful way to build community and strengthen our home-school connections. It was such a joy to see our students’ faces light up as they shared this special time with their families!

Focus Walls in Action
At Annandale Terrace, teachers post Focus Walls aligned with the Benchmark Advance unit of study to help students stay engaged and focused on their learning goals. This example from Ms. Scilovati’s classroom highlights key components such as vocabulary words, word study skills, essential questions, the unit blueprint, and weekly spelling pattern words. These visual displays help students make connections and take ownership of their learning throughout the unit.

Community Conversation with Dr. Reid
On Friday night, Dr. Michelle Reid, Superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools, hosted a community meeting right here at Annandale Terrace Elementary School. During these meetings, parents have the opportunity to ask questions and share feedback about the school division. Dr. Reid and her team engage in meaningful and productive conversations that strengthen the connection between families and FCPS. We were proud to host this important event and grateful to be part of such a collaborative evening!

No-Cost Meals Available for Students on October 13

No Cost meal

We’re excited to share that our school will be offering lunch and a snack at no cost to children aged 18 and under on Monday, October 13. As a reminder, all FCPS schools will be closed for students and school staff on October 13 in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Lunch and a snack will be served together from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Meals must be eaten on site at participating schools.
  • Enrichment activities will be available for children. Participation is encouraged but not required.
  • Only children 18 and under may receive meals.
  • Each child may receive one lunch and one snack.

We are proud to support our students’ health and well-being, even on days when school is not in session. We hope that many of our families will take advantage of this opportunity. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Food and Nutrition Services at 703-813-4800.
