Atoms Athletics Recap
Golf had two members of the team compete in the Occoquan Region Championships Monday at Twin Lakes. Sophia Sewall and Carter Demers represented Annandale in the tournament. Both golfers played hard with Carter coming in with a score of 84. Sophia isn't done just yet as she moves her attention to the Girls Region Zone Qualifier in a couple of weeks.
Girls Volleyball came into the week looking at a revenge matchup with Edison Monday evening. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be the Atoms night as the Eagles soared past the Atoms to win in three. Thursday night was senior night for the Atoms where they celebrated five members of the class of 2026. It was slow start to the evening as the Atoms trailed early in the first set but battled back to win it. The second set was all Justice but the third and fourth set were dominated by the Atoms as they finished the match off in four. Next up is a "Dig Pink Night" Tuesday vs Falls Church.
Boys Volleyball played three matches this week coming away with a 1-2 record in those games. The Atoms traveled to Edison welcomed Edison and were outpaced by the Eagles as they fell in three sets. It was the same result Thursday evening as they battled the Wolves of Justice. Tuesday was a different story as the Atoms handled the Mt. Vernon Majors throughout the match to come away with a 3-0 district win! The Atoms take on Falls Church at Hayfield on Tuesday.
Field Hockey continued their winning ways this week but not the mercy fashion as they battled Hayfield and Falls Church. First up was a date with Hayfield Tuesday evening. The Atoms started a little slow but turned it on in a big way on their way to a 5-1 win over the Hawks. Thursday was a grueling test as they Atoms faced a physical Falls Church team. The Jaguars kept it close throughout but the Atoms were able to put two in the back of the net to come away with a 2-0 victory. The Atoms play their final re
Football welcomed district rival Edison to campus Friday evening. The Atoms came out hot as they scored on their first two possessions to take an early 14-0 lead. After that, turnovers were the name of the game that allowed the Eagles the opportunity to get back into the game. Edison picked off the Atoms and returned them both for touchdowns and added an offensive TD later in the fourth quarter to go up 22-14. The Atoms had a couple opportunities late but the Eagles defense stifled the Atoms to come away with the 22-14 win. The Atoms jump on the bus and head to Hayfield Friday evening.
Boys and Girls Cross Country celebrated senior night Wednesday evening at Mason District Park. It was a special evening for the seniors as they ran their final race at Mason District before the district championship meet in two weeks. The Atoms ran well in one of their final tune-ups before the championship meet. All the runners looked to be peaking at the right time as they look to advance to perform well at the district meet with hopes of moving on to the region meet.

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help
Attention Parents! Volunteers are needed to sell concessions at games throughout the year, starting with fall sports Football and Volleyball. We welcome any and all parents to volunteer but when parents of a particular sport work a game, a portion of concessions sales directly benefit that team. If you are not able to help directly at home games, there are many ways you can get involved with the Atoms Athletics Boosters by attending our monthly meetings or being a team liaison. Thank you for your support for Atom’s Athletics!
For questions about concession stand sign ups, contact Lissette Puna.
