2. A Note from the Principal

Dear Rocky Run Families-

We had another great week of learning at Rocky Run, highlighted by the community Learning Walks that we hosted on Wednesday. I love opening up the classrooms and leading observation tours so that the community can see the amazing things happening at Rocky Run. Over 25 caregivers (and one adorable little sibling) joined us for the event. We started by reviewing the instructional and behavioral initiatives for the school year and identifying "look-fors". We then split in to smaller groups and visited 3 classrooms each. Caregivers were able to leave post-it notes to teachers on their doors to celebrate the good things they saw during the observation. This is always a bright spot for the teachers. We ended the morning with a reflective meeting as a group and general discussion of the things we saw. Be on the lookout for additional opportunities to participate in Learning Walks at Rocky Run throughout the year.

This upcoming Monday (October 20) is a student holiday in observance of Diwali. Diwali is one of the most popular festival in Hinduism and symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. During the festival it is common to see Hindus, Sikhs and Jains illuminate their homes with candles and lanterns. Happy Diwali to all Rams that celebrate!

Thank you for your continued support and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Peter Kownacki
