Let’s jump right in..
1. Pretty much always, four weeks after getting my hair cut, it’s just not the right length anymore. There are all these little weird breaky flyaway things, and no matter what I do, it just doesn’t get better.
2. I actually learned about this from one of my employees — it’s called the cheese cutter effect. Basically, it’s when some earrings start to drag your earlobes down a little bit. Now that I know about it, I can’t unsee it. I’ve become super self-conscious taking pictures of my ears for content because one of them’s really low. Actually, both are pretty low — probably because I tried to gauge them as a teenager (we all did silly things). I’ve thought about surgery to fix them, but it feels kind of dramatic. So if you see me only rocking hoops in my bottom holes, that’s why.
3. How cold I get in the winter. I have hypothyroidism, and every single year I forget how freezing my fingers and toes get once it turns cold. I love walking around barefoot, and Birkenstock sandals are basically my 24/7 uniform — so yeah, maybe that’s on me.
4. The whole “do you decorate now or not” thing. It’s smart to decorate early for the holidays because you enjoy it longer, but it still feels weird. Like, Halloween was literally yesterday. I’m a light decorator — cozy touches, yes, but not full banana pants. The time it takes to put it all up and take it down? I’d rather just read a book.
5. Supply chain delays. We’ve worked so hard to get ahead, but as a small business owner, this stuff still drives me nuts. Things always come through eventually, but a one- or two-week delay matters a lot when you’re small.
6. Trying to plan for next year. Like, who the fuck knows what’s going to happen? We’re working on some really cool new collections and directions, and I’m super excited — but it’s still that constant guessing game. We’re turning it up to a Spinal Tap 11 next year, though.
7. But luckily — one thing not driving me crazy right now is our cute AF website. I worked super hard on it all of October — redesigned some things, reworked the layout and UX, tweaked the flows — and I’m so proud of how it turned out. There’s some really cute shit on there right now. So, just saying — go check it out.
