Good morning, Chicago.

Houston was No. 1 in the AP Top 25 men's basketball poll released Monday, swapping spots with Purdue by earning three more points overall. Connecticut, Duke, and Arizona round out the top five in a chaotic poll that saw only four teams hold their positions from the preseason poll — yet no one moved into or out of the poll.

The Boilermakers were ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll for the first time in program history and opened the season with a pair of wins. Purdue had a hard time shaking Oakland in an 87-77 win Friday, and some Top 25 voters dropped the Boilermakers out of the top five on their ballots.

Illinois moved up three spots to No. 14 after opening with easy wins over Jackson State and Florida Gulf Coast. The Illini play host to No. 11 Texas Tech tonight.

On the women's side, Baylor and USC jumped into the top 10 after big opening-week victories.

The Trojans edged then-No. 9 N.C. State by a point Sunday to move up 10 spots to No. 8. While USC will be missing star JuJu Watkins all season as she recovers from an ACL tear suffered in March, coach Lindsay Gottlieb’s team has a new young star in Jazzy Davidson, who hit the go-ahead shot with 8.2 seconds left.

Notre Dame dropped three spots to No. 18 despite winning its first two games against Fairleigh Dickinson and Chicago State by a combined 104 points.
