When the current federal government shutdown began, we looked behind the scenes and brought the story home, explaining how the closure could harm Texans looking to buy or sell a home. 

After the deaths of at least 135 people in a devastating flash flood on the Guadalupe River in July faded from the headlines, we stuck with the story, reporting how legislation passed in response to the deaths could close summer camps across the state.

And when voters went to the polls to cast ballots on what seemed to be anodyne amendments to the Texas Constitution, we reported how a simple measure affirming parental rights could have larger consequences. 

We’re there in the moments that bind us together,  as we were when thousands turned out on a rain-soaked day for a “No Kings” protest. 

These aren’t just headlines. The stories that captured the spirit of Dallas and Texas are why we do this work. Every time our community faces a pivotal moment, we show up ready to report with accuracy, empathy, and depth.
