Tree Planting on Segments A and F

Tree plantings

Trees have been delivered for planting on Segments A and F, and other parts of Columbia Pike.

For the next two weeks, look out for landscaping crews working in medians and on curbs. Work trucks may be parked in travel lanes for short periods of time while workers install trees. Proceed with care for their safety and yours.

Final Paving on Segment C

This week and possibly next week as weather requires, milling and final surface paving operations will begin on Columbia Pike between South Courthouse Road and South Quinn Street. Once final surface paving is completed, pavement markings will be completed the following week.

Driveways along Columbia Pike will be temporarily impacted as work progresses. Residents in the work area are advised to avoid driveways on Columbia Pike between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Driveways along South Courthouse Road, South Scott Street, and South Rolfe Streets will remain open. (1830 Columbia Pike does not have an alternate point of access; therefore, flaggers will be on site during milling and paving operations to assist residents.)

Another Chance to Shape Arlington's Transportation Future

The future of transportation is taking shape! The County used community input to create the Vision and Goals for our next transportation plan. Now, you can help make them a reality.

We want to know what you think!

  • Do you believe the draft policies will help the County meet its transportation vision and goals?
  • Are you able to get around easily in Arlington by car, bike, transit or walking? Where are the gaps the County needs to address?
  • What are your curbside priorities? Deliveries? Parking? Bike lanes?

Talk to us in person

  • Sat., Nov 22, 1:30-4:30 PM - Arlington Mill Community Center (909 S. Dinwiddie St.)

The last day to share your feedback is December 7. Learn more about how to get involved at arlingtonva.us/TransportationFuture.

From the Mail Bag: What's All the Excavation on Segment C?

Segment C - Signal Pole Installation

Question: I see all these trenches between South Courthouse Road and South Quinn Street. What is going on?

Answer: Sidewalk work and signal installation!

Crews are rebuilding the sidewalk on Segment C (South Courthouse Road to South Quinn Street) to make the surface smooth and consistent. They're replacing old uneven bricks with pavers in some areas, and widening in others where there's room. This work also involves installing signals and lights that share the sidewalk space.

See that cylinder in the photo? That's a base component of a traffic signal located at the intersection of Columbia Pike and South Rolfe Street.
