Good evening, Chicago.

You could pick any number of plays in which Bears quarterback Caleb Williams escaped the clutches of a defender — while imagining coach Ben Johnson clutching at his heart.

There was the third-quarter play in which Williams spun and shrugged off what looked like a sure sack by Giants edge rusher Brian Burns, then ran for 5 yards on third-and-4.

Or you could point to the play with 5½ minutes left in Sunday’s 24-20 win, when Williams ducked Kayvon Thibodeaux, rolled left and hit Colston Loveland for a 20-yard gain on third-and-10 to keep the rally alive.

“I’m thinking I’m the best coach in America,” Johnson joked when asked about his reaction to Williams’ off-schedule plays. “That was a hell of a play call, wasn’t it?”
