For months, speculation around Trump's connection with dead sex offender has ebbed and flowed. The chatter would bubble up with the latest revelation, such as The Wall Street Journal's report on a note and drawing that Trump reportedly sketched for Epstein's birthday. Then, given the frenetic news cycle, the attention and scrutiny over their relationship would quickly fade as the media moved on to the next outrage, most recently the government shutdown. But the Wednesday morning release of explosive emails from the Epstein estate containing damning details linking the two may be what finally gets the issue to stick in the media and public's mind. As our Michael Calderone writes, this may be the most durable, and potentially damaging, scandal of Trump's second term. “You see, I know how dirty Donald is,” Epstein wrote in August 2018 to a top lawyer who served in the Obama administration. It's hard to see how Trump can distract or shift our attention away from this latest development, which appears to be just the start of an avalanche. That's because Wednesday also saw the swearing-in of Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva, who provided the final signature required to force a vote in the House to release all government records related to Epstein. It's noteworthy that while CNN and MSNBC covered the emails extensively, there was little mention of the controversy on Fox News, where it took hours for the network and its site to vaguely acknowledge the emails, according to Mediaite. With the possibility of even more documents spilling into the open, Trump's Epstein problem may be too big for even Fox to ignore. Separately, today marked the end of earnings season, with Disney sharing a bunch of news (see below for more). Tomorrow, you can look out for our breakdown of how the streamers stacked up in this last quarter. Roger Cheng
