The Administrative Specialist assists with the overall management and administration of services to further the mission of the Manuscript Division, one of the largest special collections repositories in the world, dedicated to acquiring, preserving, and making available for research use and exhibition personal papers and organizational records documenting the breadth and complexity of American history. The incumbent reports to the chief of the division and has a confidential working relationship with the chief and other division supervisors. In carrying out administrative responsibilities, the incumbent applies a basic knowledge of and skill in personnel management; employee relations; budget implementation and financial processes; contract administration; office equipment procurement procedures; records management; program evaluation; facility services and space utilization; and other related activities.
This position requires occasional evening or overnight hours to provide access to Architect of the Capitol staff or other authorized personnel conducting construction or maintenance projects in the division.

Patron Engagement Section Programs Resume
The Patron Engagement Section will resume all regularly scheduled online programs in December. Zoom links and descriptions of the programs will be provided in advance of each session. The only program held this month will be the final BARD 2.0 Office Hours on Tuesday, November 18. See the Zoom information and description for that program below.
BARD 2.0 Office Hours has been a limited series as we roll out the new BARD website. The final BARD 2.0 Office Hours will be held Tuesday, November 18, from 8 to 9 p.m. The session will be informal in structure, specifically designed to assist patrons as they learn and use the new BARD 2.0 website.
The session will not begin with a presentation and will not be recorded. Patron questions will be addressed on a first come, first served basis. Staff will share their screen reader sound for the patrons as they answer questions and demonstrate features.

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) Government and Finance Division seeks an Analyst in Financial Economics to join its Banking, Insurance, Securities, and Macroeconomic Policy Section. The analyst will serve the United States Congress by providing in-depth research and analysis on policy issues pertinent to U.S. securities and derivatives markets, regulation, and federal regulatory agencies, and may support research analyses undertaken throughout CRS.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge about economic principles and U.S. financial markets, experience analyzing public policy, and an intellectual curiosity about securities and derivatives markets and regulation. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to apply their knowledge of economics and finance to current federal policy debates. Strong writing, research, and presentation skills are essential, as is the ability to work on a collaborative team.

The position serves as the Chief of the Collections Management Division (CMD), Preservation Directorate (PRES), Discovery and Preservation Services (DPS) Directorate within the Library Collections and Services Group (LCSG) at the Library of Congress (LC). The Chief, CMD works under the general direction and supervision of the Director for Preservation who also oversees the Conservation Division, the Preservation Services Division and the Preservation Research and Testing Division. The Chief, CMD is the Library of Congress's officer responsible for overseeing the physical storage of library materials, including stack maintenance, security, access inventory management, and long-term care of the more than twenty million volumes in the general collections and for other collections as assigned.
