Jaelan Phillips thrives; Jalen Hurts does not
Eagles grades: Defensive line dominates; Jalen Hurts struggles in win over Lions
The Eagles defense seems to get better every week. The Detroit Lions went for it five times on fourth down Sunday night and Vic Fangio’s crew stopped them every time in a 16-9 victory. The defensive line came up huge behind the efforts of edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. The linebackers and cornerbacks were nearly as brilliant.

The offense lost right tackle Lane Johnson early in the game for the second straight week. It was not the best of nights for Jalen Hurts and his receivers, but again, the offense did enough to win.

Jeff McLane hands out his grades for the game.
