| Final pre-trial hearing in Brian Walshe case before jury selection begins |
There will be a final pre-trial hearing on Monday in the Brian Walshe case, after the accused murderer was found competent to stand trial during an appearance at Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham, Massachusetts, on Friday. The finding came after an evaluation period at Bridgewater State Hospital, following an attack on Walshe in jail that his lawyers said caused him distress. With the clearance from clinicians, which Walshe’s attorneys did not contest, Judge Diane Freniere is moving the case forward. Jury empanelment is expected to begin on Tuesday. The trial itself is expected to start on Dec. 1, after the Thanksgiving holiday. |

Wind chills in the 20s Monday — with snow expected in parts of New England |
Cold air started pouring in Sunday, dropping us from the mid-50s in the morning to the 40s by afternoon. That process continues Monday as gusty winds produce wind chills in the 20s and keep the highs from wandering far from 40 degrees. Gusts could top 40 mph in spots as a very deep and strong storm spins over the Maritimes — yes, again. In this cold flow over the Northeast, snow will be flying across the mountains of northern New England and even into the Berkshires. Some of those flakes to the west could make it into the Worcester Hills at times, but this is not a setup for any surprise accumulation. |

FAA will lift emergency flight reductions Monday |
The Federal Aviation Administration will end its flight reduction emergency order Monday, meaning flights will resume operations as normal, officials announced Sunday. The emergency order will officially lift Monday at 6 a.m. ET, ending the reductions that caused mass cancellations and delays at airports. The cuts, which started with a 4% reduction in flights at 40 major airports on Nov. 7, were designed to address fatigue and staffing issues among air traffic controllers amid the record-long government shutdown. |

Epstein survivors push for release of files in new PSA, say fight isn't political |
Several women who survived abuse by Jeffrey Epstein have come together for a public service announcement video demanding Congress release all files on the accused sex trafficker. “It’s a call to action,” one of the women, Danielle Bensky, told NBC News on Sunday. “While we are Epstein and [Ghislaine] Maxwell survivors, we are standing for so many victims of sexual assault and of domestic violence as well.” The PSA, produced by World Without Exploitation, directs the public to a link to send automated letters of support to their congressional leaders. It comes ahead of Tuesday’s highly anticipated House vote on releasing those files. |
