Davidson County, Tenn., Chancellor Patricia Head Moskal paused Gov. Bill Lee's deployment of National Guard troops in Memphis, ruling that plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits of their claims that the deployment violates Tennessee's Military Code. The order does not apply to other state and federal law enforcement officers who are present in the city under the federally established Memphis Safe Task Force.

The Defense Department has reduced its critical technology priorities to just six areas in an effort to focus research and development more effectively. The new priorities -- applied AI, biomanufacturing, contested logistics technologies, quantum and information dominance, directed energy, and hypersonics -- are expected to deliver the most significant impact and the fastest results for warfighters.

Congress's approval of $19.7 billion in military construction funding is translating into a wave of long-delayed construction and infrastructure contracts across the country. That funding is driving post-shutdown awards by the Army Corps of Engineers and other Department of Defense entities for environmental remediation, design work, base facilities and civil projects.

Frank Wetegrove, who spent 33 years in the Army and Army Reserve, is now a franchisee for Camp Bow Wow with five units. "Franchising provided that same sense of order and purpose, just in a civilian setting," Wetegrove says. "It allowed me to channel my leadership and operational experience into something that still had a proven framework but gave me the freedom to build my own team."

The Maryland National Guard and Estonia's Cyber Command have conducted a cybersecurity exercise, Baltic Blitz 25, at Warfield Air National Guard Base in Maryland. The exercise included workshops on critical thinking and information management and involved the FBI.

Lt. Col. Andrew Prior has taken command of the New York Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, succeeding Lt. Col. Adam Bojarski. Prior, who also leads Joint Task Force Empire Shield, emphasized his longstanding connection to the battalion and his commitment to upholding its legacy.
