Today, we're diving into a topic that affects us all: stress. I'm thrilled to be joined by therapist and wellness expert Dr. Renee Ostertag, with over two decades of experience. Emily: Can you explain how the course helps people break free from the fight, flight, or freeze response?

Renee: It all starts with awareness — that’s the crucial first step. You can’t change what you’re unaware of. We give you a clear, color-coded map to understand how your nervous system operates. With that understanding, you can start strategically applying new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving to alter those deeply ingrained, automatic patterns.

We harness the power of neuroplasticity, which is your brain’s amazing ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections. By repeatedly practicing specific strategies, you can literally reshape your nervous system over time, creating new and more positive experiences. This empowers you to take charge of your nervous system instead of constantly being controlled by your stress responses.

I like to think of it this way: we achieve complete stress management by balancing the three core human intelligences: thinking, feeling, and behaving. Most programs focus on only one or two, but this course emphasizes the importance of balancing all three—it’s like using all three wheels of a tricycle instead of just two for a more stable and complete solution.

If you are willing to embrace those challenges, you can emerge stronger and more resilient, much like a phoenix rising from the ashes—and the results make the journey well worth it.

Emily: Let’s wrap up with your inspiration. What called you to create this course, and how does your approach stand out from other stress management programs?

Renee: My biggest inspiration has always been a deep passion for helping others heal. I've felt called to be in a healing profession since high school, and over my 20-plus years as a physical therapist, I've seen firsthand how people can truly restore their well-being when they have the right tools and support. I'm particularly driven by the desire to reduce unnecessary suffering.

What makes this course unique is that it integrates my physical therapy background with a fresh, holistic approach to mental health. We focus on healing the mind, body, and emotions together, which means we address all three forms of human intelligence: thinking, feeling, and behaving. Many programs miss one of these pieces, leaving a gap in the healing process. My course is designed to fill those gaps by balancing these intelligences within the nervous system, making real, lasting change possible.
