Dear Beech Tree Families,
We wish to update you on the School Boundaries Public Hearing that took place on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Luther Jackson Middle School. At the hearing, more than a dozen Beech Tree, Glasgow, and Justice community members spoke about the latest changes to the boundary proposal and their impact on our school community.
The changes:
- Changes would take effect for School Year 2026-2027.
- The revised plan makes Beech Tree a “split feeder;” some students will go to Glasgow M.S./ Justice H.S., others will go to Poe M.S./Falls Church H.S.
- Poe is in the Annandale H.S. pyramid. Beech Tree students sent to Poe will switch pyramids a second time when they go to Falls Church High School, so some of these students will transition twice into new school pyramids, at middle school and then again at high school.
- Falls Church H.S. does not offer an International Baccalaureate Diploma (Justice does).
- Transfer requests will be considered, but if transfers are approved, no transportation is guaranteed.
- Students designated as transfers remaining at Glasgow and Justice would be ineligible to participate in sports for a full year under current policy.
To see if your family is impacted, please visit the FCPS boundary tool, with translations available in Spanish, Arabic, Korean, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Chinese. If you checked the tool prior to Thursday, January 8th, you will need to check again. The Beech Tree split was not updated in the tool until the morning of Jan. 8.
We pulled these maps from the boundary tool and shared in our PTA meeting on Jan. 8.
On January 13, the School Board will hear further comment at a 6:00 p.m. public hearing held in the Luther Jackson Middle School auditorium. Community members are invited to speak. The pre-signup period has closed, but you may sign up in person to speak before the hearing. Student speakers were shifted to the beginning of Saturday's hearing, so they may do so again at this one.
The School Board will vote on the final boundaries at its regular business meeting on Thursday, January 22 at 7:00pm.

- P.J. B-I-N-G-O will be held tomorrow, Tuesday January 13th, from 6:30p to 7:30p. Come in your comfiest clothes. Snacks will be sold. Bingo cards are $1 each. (WHAT A STEAL!). Come win some prizes that will definitely be cherished and not immediately left on the floor of your car. We need a few more volunteers to help out so let us know if you’d like join.
- Our next Restaurant Day is on Wednesday January 21st at Bawadi Mediterranean Grill from 11am to 11pm for both dine-in and take-out orders. Bawadi has graciously offered to donate 15% of sales to the PTA when you present the flyer (that we will send out this week in the Wednesday folders. STILL promise!)
