Healthy Habits to Reduce the Spread of Flu and Other Germs!

Terra Centre Families,

Fairfax County is seeing very high levels of influenza (flu) illness. Visits to emergency departments and urgent care centers for flu-like illness have increased, especially among children, and multiple flu outbreaks have occurred in our community and school settings. Consider these tips from the Fairfax County Health Department to help reduce the spread of flu and other germs.

If your child is ill, please use ONE of the following methods to report the absence. Choosing only one method ensures our records remain accurate and prevents duplicate entries.

When reporting, please be specific about the reason for the absence. Include symptoms (fever, cough, vomiting) and any diagnosis provided by a doctor.

  1. ParentVUE: Submit a full-day absence through ParentVUE

  2. Attendance Line: Call 703-249-1414.

  3. Email: Contact TerraCentreESAttendance@fcps.edu.

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 19, for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

TCES PTA Reflections Showcase and Awards Ceremony

Families are invited to the Terra Centre Elementary Reflections Showcase and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, February 5th, from 5:30–7:00 PM.

This year’s Reflections theme, “I Belong,” inspired our students to reflect deeply on identity, community, and connection. Through their artwork, they explored what belonging means to them—often with incredible thoughtfulness, creativity, and courage. The time and care they invested in expressing their ideas truly deserves to be celebrated.

The evening will feature a showcase of student artwork, with award announcements beginning at 6:00 PM. We hope you will join us in recognizing the dedication of our student artists and supporting them as they continue to grow creatively and personally. In the end, we will be taking pictures with all winners and participants.

Your presence means so much to our students, and we would be honored to celebrate this special evening with our Terra Centre community.
