Upcoming PTA Meeting – All Wolftrap Families Welcome!
Please join us for our next PTA meeting on Wednesday, January 14th at 7:30 p.m. in the Wolftrap Library. We are excited to welcome Jeff Lonnett from Fairfax County Public Schools, the founder of the Portrait of a Graduate (POG) program, as our featured speaker.
Mr. Lonnett will share an overview of the Portrait of a Graduate initiative, explain how it is implemented at Wolftrap, and answer parent questions. All Wolftrap students participate in the POG program, which focuses on developing essential skills such as collaboration, communication, creative and critical thinking, and responsible citizenship.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about how FCPS is preparing our students for success in middle school, high school, and beyond. We hope to see you there!
If you cannot attend in person, please join via Zoom!

You may see a past order date, if it is from 2025, it was last school year's order.)
Yearbooks will be distributed by the school at the end of the school year. April 8th is an absolute deadline.
Please also continue to send any pictures to yearbook@wolftrappta.org. We are still in need of pictures from all grades and events.

The wonderful Wolftrap community has been collecting food for Food For Others, a nonprofit that collects food and donates it to the local community in need.
Volunteers are needed to pick up the food from the PTA closet on Fridays between 2:00-3:00 p.m. and drop off at the Loading Dock at the Food For Others Warehouse.
Please see the additional dates through the end of the school year. ***Please note March 27 and June 17 are half days.
The food is all in the refrigerator of the PTA Closet (in the cafeteria) and will need to be put in the cooler and bags and brought to your car and dropped off at: 2938 Prosperity Ave, Fairfax VA.
The cooler would need to be returned to the PTA Closet by 10:30 a.m. on Mondays to help collect for the following week.
Please contact Michelle Scalise with any questions at 917-499-4419 or mzscalise@gmail.com.
The Original Works online gallery has reopened, giving you another opportunity to view and order your child’s one-of-a-kind artwork. This is a great second chance to turn their creativity into meaningful keepsakes or gifts—such as mugs, magnets, tote bags, ornaments, and more.
Every purchase celebrates your child’s creativity and supports our school.
Orders must be placed by January 18th. To access your child(s)’ image(s), go to https://store.originalworks.com/gallery and enter the access code shown on the original flyer you received.
Thank you for supporting our young artists and our school!

The Wolftrap Elementary School Talent Show is back, and we'd love to see your kids shine at this free (non-competitive) celebration of creativity and skill!
Join us Friday, February 13, 2006, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Madison High School for an evening that's all about fun, community, and cheering each other on. Past acts have included everything from piano players, bands, singers, dancers (solo and teams), lip-syncers, skits, magic acts, and even wrestling demonstrations; our students never fail to amaze!
PLEASE SHARE THIS FORM: You do not have to be part of the PTA for your kids to be in the show! Please share this information with any parent of a WES student if they have interest! Acts are 2 minutes or less, and performers should plan to bring any props they need (a baby grand piano and mics will be available). Sign Up is active and will stay open until the last week of January!
PLEASE HELP: We're also looking for parent volunteers (**are you really good at organizing the flow of a mixed tape-style playlist to help make the night run smoothly? If there are any parents who are part of WatchDogs, please reach out- we'd love to connect with you about a possible WatchDog act.
6TH GRADERS AND PARENTS THEREOF: (A note from 6th grade class parent lead, Ashley Uhl): Hi Parents! Traditionally, the WES Talent Show reserves a spot for the 6th graders to come together and celebrate their last year at Wolftrap. We need parent volunteers to lead, organize, and support to make this very special 6th Grade Act happen this year! The deadline is TOMORROW (Thursday) to let us know. Apologies for the short notice. If no one volunteers, 6th graders are still welcome to participate individually in the show; there just won't be a group act at the end.
Please email talentshow@wolftrappta.org with any questions about this event!
The Edison Expo- our science fair and engineering expo- is coming up on Thursday, February 26th at 6:00 p.m. All projects are welcome in any area of STEM! Trifold boards will be available in the office soon for pick-up, but it's time to start making those observations and hypotheses. If you need a little inspiration, here is great primer on the scientific process:
https://www.amnh.org/explore/videos/the-scientific-process
And back by popular demand, for 5th and 6th graders only:
The egg drop challenge at 7:00 p.m.!
Put those engineering skills to test by designing a vessel that will protect a raw egg when dropped from a ladder.
Be sure to contact edisonexpo@wolftrappta.org with any questions about this exciting event!
Each year in the Wolftrap Yearbook, sixth grade parents are able to submit a short message to their student(s). The message should be 2-3 sentences, with a 300-character limit to ensure space for all.
Please submit your message by completing all questions in this form. If you have any questions, please contact the Yearbook Team at yearbook@wolftrappta.org. Deadline is February 18th.
