Road Closures May Affect Travel Near Sequoia Plaza
 Starting on or about Mon., Jan. 19, the ramps between Washington Boulevard/Rt. 27 and Columbia Pike will close. In addition to the ramp closures, there will be traffic pattern changes along S. Joyce Street and Columbia Pike. Prior to the changes, travelers will notice detour signage in designated areas to help guide through the updated traffic routes. This work is part of the federal Southern Expansion Project at Arlington National Cemetery; learn more on the project page, sign up to receive updates, or email usarmy.anc.southernexpansion@army.mil. Plan ART bus trips and driving accordingly!

The Department of Human Services is in search of an Administrative Officer for the Aging and Disabilities Services Division (ADSD). ADSD delivers services that empower and engage older adults and individuals with disabilities to lead meaningful lives with choice and access to comprehensive care coordination, clinical and case management services, and community-based supports.
Managing a division budget exceeding $30 million with multiple revenue streams, the Administrative Officer role provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and financial leadership to ensure efficient, impactful service.

January 18: Dr. King Annual Tribute, Dance and Poetry
Arlington's annual tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will take place on Sun., Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. at Wakefield High School. This year’s theme is Dreams, Faith, and Justice in Action. The event will feature spoken word, music, and movement designed to inspire and activate our community to embrace Dr. King’s legacy of social justice, unity, and equality. Register for this event.

January 19: Volunteer for MLK Day
The Annual MLK Day of Service honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., connecting people of all ages across Arlington in fun and service. This coming Monday, Volunteer Arlington hosts projects starting at 8:30 a.m. Each participant in the Day of Service must register; adults can register up to two kids. Family-friendly projects are available. The first 1000 attendees receive a free t-shirt.

January 20: Child & Youth Well-Being Network Meeting

Arlington County is embarking on a journey to create a community-wide plan to support children and youth. The Child and Youth Well-Being Network will lead this work — developing a shared vision, mapping out engagement strategies, and identifying what’s working (and what’s not) for young people in the community.
Join this Virtual Meeting to learn about the effort and help shape the future for children and youth in Arlington. Read about the network, its goals and questions, and indicators addressed, in English or Spanish.

January 27: Arlington Housing Choice Voucher Program Plan Comment Period Closes Soon
January 30: APS Teen Health Fair at Wakefield HS

Registration is currently open for a free health fair for high school-aged students who need a sports participation physical examination or immunizations to meet school entry requirements. The school nurse will follow up with you to complete registration process, including signed consent. There will also be free resources for teens and their families. Hosted by Arlington Public Schools and Arlington Public Health.

February 11: Free YMHFA Training
Registration is now open for this important training designed to help adults support adolescents ages 12–18. Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among young people. The course builds skills and confidence to provide initial support and connect youth to appropriate, ongoing mental health resources.
Training includes two hours of virtual, required pre-work followed by a six-hour in-person session at Arlington DHS.
