It's soothing to tell yourself stories about why you haven't accomplished what you want.
Gives you a reason why nothing has worked for you.
I read a book recently called 'The Courage To Be Disliked' that goes deeper on this.
Example:
Commenters online claiming that I take steroids to look the way I do.
(in case you didn't know - I don't)
I could do that too, if I took stuff
Of course he looks like that, it's just the drugs
But here's the rub.
Even though it feels good in the short term, it keeps you stuck.
I've always been a bigger guy
No matter what I do nothing works
Life has just been way too busy lately
ALL of those things are so much easier to admit than:
Fitness hasn't been a priority for me
I could do that too, if I put in the work
Of course he looks like that, he's been consistent for years
They sting, but they help you move forward.
Challenge just ONE belief of yours today.
Life has just been way too busy lately.
Do you have 20 minutes, 2-3x per week for some pushups and squats?
Could you place an online grocery order to get healthy food in the house?
If you want to keep telling yourself stories about why it'll never work for you, go ahead.
When you're ready to change - this is how you start.
