Families,

The first instructional week back allowed students to review routines and procedures. Additionally, we continued our instructional focus of literacy, behavior, and communication. Please check your child’s binder daily for updates and reminders.

Have a wonderful long weekend and we will see your children when we return on Tuesday, January 20.

Please join the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department for a special needs community outreach open house. This is the first time the department will host an event designed to support individuals with diverse needs while helping emergency first responders better understand and prepare for real-life situations should an emergency occur.

We will have real-life 911 dispatchers using a 911 simulator to walk individuals through the process of calling and what to expect. Firefighters will slowly and carefully demonstrate their gear, and an ambulance and engine will be available for individuals to explore at their own pace, along with smaller activities designed with flexibility in mind.

We will also offer a Community Connect sign-up, allowing individuals and families to share helpful information in advance. Community Connect is a secure system that allows first responders to view important household details, such as pets and any specific considerations that may be helpful during an emergency.

This event has been carefully crafted with everyone in mind, with the teamwork and generous support of two FCPS specialists from the special needs field. We hope you will consider joining us for this meaningful event and many more in the future.

Please note, this is not a drop-off event. The event is geared towards families.
