What to Watch at Sundance |
The 2026 Sundance Film Festival will be a time of endings and beginnings. It’s the event’s very last year in Park City before it moves to its new home in Boulder, Colorado—and it’s the first fest without Sundance founder Robert Redford, who died last year at the age of 89. But as always, the main focus will be on the movies. Sundance has earned a reputation for launching small films into both the spotlight and the awards conversation, and it’s living up to it this season, with Train Dreams on track for a best-picture nod and Rose Byrne gunning for a best-actress nomination for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. We’ve analyzed this year’s lineup to highlight some of the films (and a couple of TV shows!) that have the industry buzzing.
Elsewhere in HWD, Rebecca Ford previews the second season of Netflix’s juicy drama Beef; documentarian Matt Tyrnauer remembers Valentino Garavani; José Criales-Unzueta talks rom-coms and James Bond with Tom Blyth; and Chris Murphy introduces the stars of Ryan Murphy’s Love Story. |
