Our Mission

We're here to help writers imagine, plan, and tell their stories. Everything we do serves that purpose— from continuously making our software applications more powerful to creating free writing resources for our community.

But we came from humble beginnings.

In August 2018, Northeastern University sophomore Jason Louro began writing a screenplay, but found it difficult to keep organized. He started developing a new software to help him keep track of everything.

A few months later, Campfire Pro—created by Jason between classes—launched on October 1st. It made exactly three sales on its first day. A fellow undergraduate from Knoxville, Tennessee reached out, and Jason agreed to let him take over Campfire's marketing for a short period. His name was Jackson.

With Jackson's help, November 2018 was a fantastic month for Campfire, leading to over a thousand new users and rejuvenating the small team. Jackson permanently joined Campfire as the company's new Chief Marketing Officer.

We're so proud of how far Campfire has come since those days!

As time went on, the team realized Campfire Pro's codebase wasn't good enough to stand the test of time. So they made the difficult decision to begin sunsetting the software and create a new one, Campfire Blaze, that could keep up with evolving technology and feature demand. In August 2019, Jason and Jackson launched a Kickstarter campaign for Campfire Blaze and raised over $37,000 in just thirty days.

Over the course of the next year, the team's size doubled and Blaze launched on November 1st, 2020. Blaze was regularly updated until October, 2021. At this time, Blaze was rebranded with a massive update, and Campfirewriting.com officially launched. It added two new sections to the site: a blog filled with tutorials, videos, and articles, as well as a place for users to publish their Campfire projects for the world to see.

Since then, we released our offline desktop app, a mobile app for writers, overhauled entire modules, released new modules, and grew the publishing side into a proper reading platform where authors can sell their books and bonus content.

Today, we're still working hard to bring monthly updates to Campfire. We won't rest until Campfire is the one-stop-shop for storytellers to go from idea to completed story to making a living selling those stories. All on one platform.

We're glad you've joined us on this journey, and hope you'll bear with us as we continue to improve Campfire each and every month.
