As a Changing Education Through the Arts (CETA) school, our teachers participate in ongoing professional learning focused on arts integration. Last week, a teaching artist modeled a lesson in Ms. Glovier's 1st grade class that incorporated movement into math instruction. Students had a great time engaging in hands-on learning, while teachers gained new strategies to bring the arts into their classrooms.
A Note from the Bailey's Administration Team
Happy Sunday, Bailey’s Community!
We hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend. As we shared last week, our family newsletter will now be sent each Sunday. This gives us a chance to reflect on the week behind us and also look ahead to what’s coming up.
Although last week was a short one for students, we made every minute count. It was great to see students engaged and back into their learning routines.
As we head into the week, we know winter weather is in the forecast for tonight. Please be sure to look for any operating status updates from FCPS regarding possible delays or closures.
A reminder that Wednesday is a 3-hour early release day. Thank you to our families for your strong communication and partnership in helping us ensure smooth and safe dismissals on early release days—we truly appreciate your support.
Looking ahead, we are especially excited for our Arts in Action Day this Friday. K–2 families are invited to join us in the cafeteria for a brief overview of arts integration at Bailey’s. You will have the opportunity to see some of our second graders demonstrate an arts strategy that integrates science and creative movement, and then visit your child’s classroom to observe an arts integration lesson. The event will conclude at 10:00 a.m. so students can continue with their instructional day.
We look forward to a wonderful week together!

Important Update for First and Second Grade Families Regarding Student Devices
All first and second grade students will have the opportunity to take their school-issued laptops home each afternoon and return them to school each morning. Taking laptops home is optional, but we encourage families to consider this opportunity to support continued learning and help students build responsibility in caring for their devices.
All families are asked to complete the Google form to indicate whether they would like their child to take a laptop home or to opt out at this time. A member of our Technology Team will follow up with you via Talking Points to confirm your selection and share any next steps.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our School-Based Technology Specialist, Nicole Sandrowicz. Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

Justice Community Spotlight
Working as a collaborative community, we cultivate a strong sense of belonging and joy, fostering high expectations while providing access to opportunities that fuel the growth and success of every student, empowering families to thrive. The Justice Pyramid is proud to celebrate one of the many ways we live this commitment and come together to ensure our students feel that strong sense of belonging.
In January, the counselors from Glasgow Middle School traveled to Bailey’s Upper, Belvedere, Beech Tree, Sleepy Hollow, Parklawn, and Glen Forest to meet our 5th graders where they are. During these visits, counselors shared information about middle school, answered thoughtful questions, and helped launch the exciting transition process.
Next, students will select their courses and take a tour of Glasgow as they take the next steps toward becoming Justice Wolves. We love our Justice Pyramid Community and are grateful for the intentional ways we work together to support, welcome, and uplift our students every step of the way.

New Visitor Management System
- We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.
For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check-in at the front office.
But now there is also an app, which can make check-in’s even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check-in at school.
If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!
