Benet advances to state title game

Benet found a way to survive and advance in the Class 4A semifinal Friday in Champaign.

Tied at 38 with DePaul Prep, Benet senior Colin Stack hit a free throw with 1.1 seconds left to send the Redwings to the title game.

Benet faces rival Marist tonight as it tries to win its second straight state title.

Marist raced out to a 17-point lead against York in its semifinal and never looked back, winning 55-38. The Dukes ended up in fourth after falling to DePaul Prep 56-46 in the third-place game.
