This excuse means 1 of 2 things:

1. “I’m afraid I won’t succeed, so I’m going to blame my family.”
2. “My family teases me when I try to succeed.”

For both, say:

F*ck that.

Do you.

If they love you, they'll understand.

Honestly, they'll probably love you more for going after it.

“I do have an idea, but—”

Oh yeah?

An idea?

How long has the idea been in your head?

How long has it been a distant fantasy?

What’s the delay?

Don’t want to be told it’s not a “genius idea?”

Let me save you the trouble.

It’s not genius.

You’re not a genius.

You’re someone who is delaying action because you think a perfect fantasy is better than an imperfect reality.

You’re living a false dream.

(I know because I used to do it.)

“I don’t have the energy to—”

Eat better.

Move more.

Psych yourself up.

No energy = too small a “why.”

What?

Did you want me to pretend it’s easy?

Simple hacks?

Plug-and-play strategy?

Works-every-time product ideas?

Please.

If you want to swallow that nonsense from fake guru marketing bros who rent Lambos and mansions, be my guest.

(And then ask yourself why everyone isn’t successful if it’s all that easy.)

This whole digital business thing is not impossible.

(Obviously. I’m living proof it can work).

But:

It can be very hard.

All I’m asking you to do is wake up and choose hard.

And then choose hard again.

And again.

Then wake up the next day and choose hard again.

The opportunity is still there.

If you can’t find it in you to capture it, I have no sympathy for you.

Final excuse might be:

“I don’t know how to…”

Then fix it.
