Ukraine faces new Russian offensive as peace talks stall

As the war in the Middle East has dominated headlines and attention, the other major ongoing conflict has been somewhat overshadowed.

Russia launched a new springtime offensive along the Ukraine front line during a breakdown in US-backed peace talks. Ukraine aims to repel them by building on recent tactical successes and battlefield innovations like mid-range strikes.

Though Russian forces outnumber Ukraine's, improved tactical assaults by Kyiv and its evolving drone strike capability could slow Moscow's gains, said Rob Lee, a senior fellow at Philadelphia-based think tank the Foreign Policy Research Institute.
