President Donald Trump directed the Department of Homeland Security to pay all of its employees amid a record-long shutdown that's lasted nearly 50 days.

The memo authorizes paychecks for more than 35,000 employees at places like FEMA, the Coast Guard and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency who have gone without pay since funding stopped on Feb. 14.
