Rummage sale items

Come to the Aurora Hills Trash and Treasure Sale!

Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Aurora Hills. Drop-in

The general public is invited to this annual neighborhood rummage sale held at the Aurora Hills 55+ Center. There will be household goods, decorative items, small appliances, games & toys, jewelry, luggage and craft supplies galore. All proceeds benefit the Aurora Hills 55+ special events and programs.

 

Donation drop-off: Wednesday, April 15 and Friday, April 17, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. (No books, clothes, shoes, home electronics, TVs, computers, DVDs and CDs accepted)


Tech help desk

Help Desk for Computer & Cell Phone Technology Needs

Meet one-on-one with an expert instructor to get your technology questions answered in a friendly, welcoming environment. Bring your device and get assistance with apps, removing computer viruses or malware, storing pictures and files, and any other questions you have. Please sign up in advance for a 30 minute appointment.

Social Bridge is a fun and engaging way to keep your mind sharp. Join fellow bridge enthusiasts to practice your skills, enjoy friendly competition and play with different partners each week. All experience levels are welcome.

Retirement: Before & After

Monday, April 20, 1-3 p.m. at Lubber Run

Learn some tips and tools to use when making the decision to retire. Explore issues including a new identity, roles and expectations, psychological transition, financial considerations, relocation, staying engaged, uncertainty and more. This interactive class will be led by Sallie Wiley, an experienced instructor, facilitator and certified federal coach. Register: #913404-04


Colored pencils

Sharpen Your Colored Pencil Skills!

Colored Pencils: Leaves & Dew

Mondays, April 13 & 20, 1-2:30 p.m. at Arlington Mill. Cost: $40

Join artist and educator Sandra Philips for a beginner-friendly colored pencil class. No experience needed—though some experience is helpful! In two sessions, learn to capture green leaves and dew drops with step-by-step guidance. Materials are not provided: see your registration receipt for a complete supply list. Register: #913303-04

 

Pink Roses in Colored Pencil

Thursdays, April 30-May 14, 2:30-4 p.m. at Arlington Mill. Cost: $60

Artist and educator Sandra Philips will guide you through creating a hyper-realistic pink stemmed rose using colored pencils in this three-session class. Stems and rose will feature delicate dew drops. Colored pencil experience encouraged but not required. Materials are not provided: see your registration receipt for a complete supply list. Energize Your Spring

Thursday, April 9, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Langston-Brown

At this engaging presentation, volunteer Energy EcoAmbassadors will discuss ways you can be more climate aware. You will gain a better understanding of the local and global impacts of climate change. Register: #913400-13

Join us for a casual and fun dinner party with great company and conversation! Bring your own dinner, but drinks and dessert will be provided. It’s the perfect way to get to know your neighbors and enjoy a relaxed, friendly evening together. Register: #913801-02


Walking group

Healing Steps: Grief Walking Group

Find community and connection with others who are grieving a loss. Led by Licensed Clinical Social Worker and registered volunteer Jennifer Lanouette. Walks will be about two miles at a relaxed pace, supporting healing through movement in nature.


Piano keys

Flappers and Speakeasies: The Music of the Roaring 20s

Pianist Ken Schellenberg and friends will perform some of the iconic music of the roaring 1920s. Songs will include Gershwin, “Tiptoe Through the Tulips,” “You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby” and more. You’ll be surprised by how many you know!
