| Dear Carolyn: I’m 29 and have been with my husband for nine years, since I was 20 and he was 24. We’ve been married for two years. I thought we had a relationship based on love, trust and shared goals. We have been trying to have a baby for the past six months, and my friend suggested I use a fertility tracking app. We are in a family plan on the App Store, so I saw there were at least six different dating/hookup apps — downloaded on days my husband went traveling without me (for work or with friends) going back to 2022. When I asked him about it, he told me he was bored and lonely but didn’t do anything with it, never even talked to anyone. So I asked him about the Signal app, which I assume he downloaded so he could talk privately to those women. He again said he was just bored and curious. I want to believe he never did anything, but I have serious doubts. He has been actively trying to build back the trust, even voluntarily got an STD screening, but it seems impossible for me to believe in him. Do you think anyone has ever downloaded a bunch of hookup apps just because they were bored and curious? — Serious Doubts |
