A Note from Ms. Edwards

I hope you and your family had a restful, fun, and refreshing spring break—we’ve missed our students and are excited to have the building buzzing again!

As we return, we’re heading into a wonderful stretch of the school year. Spring is full of growth, celebration, and joyful learning, and we’re eager to keep that momentum going as our students continue to shine and make meaningful progress each day.

A special shoutout to our amazing custodial team, who made great use of the break by deep cleaning the library, preparing the garden space, sprucing up our outdoor flower pots, and even building benches for our outdoor learning area. We’re so grateful for their hard work in making our school an even more beautiful and welcoming place for students.

We also recognize that this year’s FCPS student calendar has been challenging for many families, and we truly appreciate your flexibility and partnership. If you have feedback or concerns, we encourage you to share them with School Board representatives—your voice matters and helps shape future decisions.

Here’s to a strong, joyful, and successful spring at RHES!

Rachal Edwards, Principal

Community & Culture Celebration

CCC

Our recent Community & Culture Celebration on Thursday, March 26 was a vibrant and joyful evening, bringing together more than 500 members of our Rose Hill community! Families and staff celebrated the rich diversity of our school through dancing, singing, music, and delicious food from around the world—it was truly a night to remember.

A special thank you goes to Mrs. Kate Pennington, our Family Liaison, for her leadership in spearheading this incredible event, as well as to the many RHES staff members who generously volunteered their time to help plan and make the evening such a success. We are also so grateful to the families who attended and shared meaningful pieces of their culture with us.

Events like this highlight what makes Rose Hill such a special place—our people, our connections, and our shared commitment to celebrating one another.

Provide the County Government With Feedback on Its Budget

About 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors is reviewing the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Advertised Budget and considering possible adjustments before adoption in May. Opportunities to provide feedback to the county include Budget Town Hall Meetings airing on Channel 16 on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m., (Springfield District) and Friday, April 10, at 6 p.m., (Franconia District).

You can also provide your input during the county’s Budget public hearings on Tuesday, April 14, at 4 p.m., and Wednesday, April 15, and Thursday, April 16, at 3 p.m. at the Government Center Board Auditorium. Register in advance to speak

Stellar Squads!

Stellar Squards - March

Our March Stellar Squads took place on the Friday before spring break, bringing partner classrooms together for a fun, tech-free hour of connection and creativity. Students had the chance to socialize, collaborate, and build relationships across grade levels while enjoying activities designed simply for fun. From teamwork to laughter, it was a great opportunity for students to support one another, strengthen bonds, and celebrate being part of the RHES community.

FCPS Commitment to Weather Safety

At FCPS, the safety of our students, staff, and visitors is our highest priority — no matter the season. In extreme cold, we monitor National Weather Service (NWS) guidance, adjust outdoor activities, and ensure our buildings are warm and secure. In extreme heat, we modify or cancel outdoor activities, use on-site measurements to guide athletic decisions, and promote hydration and cooling breaks.

FCPS has plans in place to provide guidance during severe weather, including storms, flooding, and tornadoes. Decisions are informed by industry best practices, weather alerts, and a commitment to keeping our school community safe and healthy year-round. Read more about weather safety, including the differences between an advisory, watch, and warning.
