Hi Digital Rights Supporter,
April 20th is approaching quickly. That’s the deadline for Congress to decide whether to make changes or renew Section 702 as is. That’s the mass surveillance law that gives federal law enforcement access to Americans' private communications.
Every few years we get the chance to make substantial reforms to this problematic law and most of the time, Congress makes some changes while leaving many of the big issues unaddressed. This time leadership is planning to skip reforms entirely and pass a clean extension with no changes at all.
That’s not acceptable. Use EFF’s action tool to tell Congress: No vote on any bills that would reauthorize Section 702 without reforms.
Time is short and your voice matters.
