Calendar Update - April Statewide Election: No School for Students
There will be no school for students on Tuesday, April 21, due to the Virginia statewide election. Student activities, athletic practices, and events may proceed as scheduled.
Fairfax County Public Schools will still exceed the required number of instructional hours for students, as set by the Virginia Department of Education.
SOL Testing Dates
Students in grades 3-8 participate in state assessments each year. These assessments measure how students are learning the state standards. Below is the current schedule for the spring Standards of Learning tests at Crossfield Elementary.
Science - Gr 5 --Tuesday, May 12
Reading - Gr 3 and 4 -- Wednesday, May 13
Reading - Gr 5 and 6 -- Friday, May 15
Math - Gr 3 and 4 -- Monday, May 18
Math - Gr 5 and 6 -- Thursday, May 21
Make-up testing -- Ongoing during the SOL testing window
Retakes for identified students -- May 28 - June 3
Purple Up! Day is Tomorrow
Virginia’s statewide PurpleUp! Day is tomorrow, Wednesday April 15th. Everyone is encouraged to wear purple to support and thank our military youth for their strength, sacrifices, and resilience. The color purple represents the combination of all service branches, plus Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, and Veterans.
7th Grade Immunization Requirement
The Code of Virginia,(https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title22.1/chapter14/section22.1-271.2/) , requires all students to be immunized against certain communicable diseases. All students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations prior to the beginning of school: Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap), Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY), and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. Students who do not meet this requirement will be unable to start school in the fall.

2026 Special Education Family Conference: Rescheduled
FCPS’ 2026 Special Education Family Conference has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Marshall High School. Updated conference details are now available on the Special Education Family Conference webpage. Please register for the event. If you registered before, please re-register for the new date. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this date change may cause and appreciate your understanding.
Tech Adventure Summer Camp
 Tech Adventure enrichment camp allows elementary aged students to explore Career and TECHnical Education (CTE) by rotating through daily classes modeled after CTE program areas: Business/Marketing, Family + Consumer Sciences, Health + Medical Sciences, STEAM, and Trades. Runs weekly from July 6 to 31, 8:30am-2pm. $300 per week. (See tuition assistance details on website.) Early drop-off and after-care are available. The camp is held at Robinson Secondary School. All current Kindergarten to 5th graders are eligible. Transportation from select FCPS schools is provided!
