Woodson Varsity Baseball
Little League Players join the Cavs on the field for the National Anthem
Fat heads of the Varsity Team as Little Leaguers displayed on the dugout.
Varsity Cavaliers swept a two-game series against Robinson Varsity Rams, earning a 4–3 win on Tuesday and an 8–2 victory on Thursday. In the opener, Woodson secured a dramatic late win, breaking a 3–3 tie in the seventh when I. Sawtelle drew a bases-loaded walk. Earlier, Woodson built a 3–1 lead in the second before Robinson rallied to tie the game. B.Torbert dominated on the mound, striking out nine over six innings, while W.Wise earned the save.
In Thursday’s rematch, Woodson used a decisive five-run fifth inning to pull away. Key contributions came from Sawtelle, B. Walkinshaw, and G. Goltry, while Goltry and N. Prabhakar each drove in two runs. B. Hunter pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs. Woodson showcased strong all-around play with aggressive baserunning, solid defense, and consistent hitting to complete the sweep
Thursday also featured Little League Night, welcoming youth players for pregame festivities and engaging fans with trivia and prizes, creating a great community atmosphere.
Come cheer on the Cavs vs Lake Braddock this week: Away on Tuesday and Home on Friday.
