Arlington County Announces New Alarm Administration VendorARLINGTON, Va. – Arlington County has begun using a third-party vendor, Alarm Program Systems, LLC, to administer the Arlington County Alarm Program overseeing the registration of security alarm systems and enforcement of false alarm activations. The program has launched a new website using CitySupport software to facilitate alarm registrations, annual permit renewals, billing and appeals. The transition is intended to provide community members and businesses with an upgraded, user-friendly website experience while improving the efficiency and communication of the Arlington County Alarm Program. Security Alarm Registration Arlington County Code Chapter 33 requires every residential and commercial security alarm system, excluding fire or vehicle alarms, to be registered with the Arlington County Police Department and permits must be renewed annually. The annual cost to register/renew an alarm is $25.00. The Arlington County Alarm Program is working with alarm companies to identify active security alarm systems operating in Arlington County and ensure their users register their alarms. Alarm users will receive letters by mail with detailed instructions on how to register their alarm with Arlington County. Those currently registered with Arlington County will receive letters by mail instructing them to renew their alarm permit prior to their anniversary date. False Alarm Enforcement Arlington County Code Chapter 33 attempts to reduce the amount of time and resources used by public safety personnel responding to false security alarms including unintentional alarm system activations, system malfunctions and any alarm signal that elicits a police response when no evidence exists of criminal activity to justify the response. Effectively processing false alarms helps reduce the number of false alarms and allows police resources to focus on emergency incidents and in-progress crimes. Arlington County Code establishes a fee for police response to two or more false alarms within a 12-month period. Visit our website for additional program information.
