Travel Dispatch: What It’s Like Flying Ultra-Luxury From Paris
A writer reports from inside the premium bubble.

“Each new indulgence seems more lavish than the one before,” Sarah Lyall writes of the “nonstop parade of luxury” that is flying with La Première, Air France’s first-class trans-Atlantic service.

There’s the bespoke departure lounge, where you can order a three-course meal from a menu conceived by Alain Ducasse. And the Porsche Cayenne in which you are driven across the airport apron to the plane.

But perhaps the most stunning thing she observed on her flight from Paris to New York? The lack of people. “For the duration of the trip, I encountered virtually no other passengers, except for others in first class.” None in the terminal. None in the lounge. None in the security line. None during boarding.

Follow Sarah on her journey into the premium bubble, where the real world never intrudes.

I an illustration, a woman sits on an airplane looking out window. She is surrounded by flowers, butterflies and peacocks rendered in gold and orange.
