President Donald Trump sent letters to Congress explaining that because of the ongoing ceasefire, he doesn't need its authorization for ongoing military operations in Iran.

Trump’s notification comes on the 60th day of the conflict, the deadline that the War Powers Resolution of 1973 designates for a president to get authorization from Congress for war or seek an extension to remove troops.

Congressional leaders have faced mounting questions about whether they will bring votes on a formal authorization for the war.
