Army Veteran finds new purpose through VA adaptive sports
Katie Verderber injured her back during an overseas mission, which led to her using a wheelchair. While recovering at VA Puget Sound, she discovered a passion for staying active through VA adaptive sports. There, she was introduced to curling and went on to represent Team USA at the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games.
