Important Update: Electronic Payments Now Required for VA Account Balances

Electronic Payments

Dear Veteran,

In March 2025, Executive Order (EO) 14247, Modernizing Payments To and From America's Bank Account, mandated a governmentwide transition away from physical checks toward secure electronic payment methods for federal disbursements and collections.

This directive aims to:

• Reduce reliance on outdated paper-based processes

• Improve payment security, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency

Effective May 1, 2026, the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital will no longer accept checks or money orders for Veteran account payments, bills of collection, or any other debt owed to the facility. Checks received by mail after this date will be returned to the sender. Accepted payment methods include:

• Credit or debit card (in person at the Agent Cashier)

• Online payment via Pay.gov When submitting payment online, please reference your invoice or bill collection K number, which can be found on your billing statement.
