Ford Motor has filed a patent for a predictive crash-avoidance system that can operate even when a vehicle is parked. The system uses a "virtual sensing grid" comprised of radar, cameras, lidar and ultrasonic sensors to predict the movement of nearby vehicles and to take evasive action if a collision is likely.
