Time spent with my former DOJ colleague Andrew Weissmann is always time well spent. Today, we had something especially important to discuss. Andrew’s new book, Liar’s Kingdom, is coming out tomorrow, and it’s going to go immediately to the top of my stack of must-read books; I’m really looking forward to it. He talks about it with me in this conversation, and his insight that DOJ prosecutes all sorts of lies, but not those told by politicians, and that needs to change. Because I think it’s important to understand the background and experience an author brings to their arguments, I get Andrew to briefly rehearse his career at DOJ with us. He’s someone who is entitled to speak on these issues and has always had the courage to do so. Best of all, Andrew promised to come back and continue our conversation once we’ve all had time to digest the book. Let’s get reading.
