I looked into the stained glass workshop you mentioned and I think the beginner class on the first Saturday would work well for my schedule. They provide all the glass pieces and tools so you just show up ready to learn. The instructor said we would complete a small sun catcher by the end of the three hour session. I was worried about cutting glass but they have pre-cut kits for newcomers. I can pick you up on the way if you want to go together. Just let me know if the morning or afternoon session works better for you before they fill up.

For the community garden plot I think we should go with the raised bed option since the soil in that area tested a bit compacted. I talked to the coordinator and she said they have a mix of topsoil and compost available for free if we pick it up ourselves. The beds need to be no wider than four feet so we can reach the middle from either side. I was thinking we could plant tomatoes along the back row with basil in front and maybe some peppers on the ends. The sun exposure is good from mid morning through late afternoon so most vegetables should do well there.
