2. A Note from the Principal
Dear Rocky Run Families-
We're in the home stretch! It’s hard to believe that next week is the last week of school. What a ride this year has been! On Monday and Tuesday each team will honor and celebrate the accomplishments of their students at team assemblies. Families of students that are receiving recognition were individually notified about the event. If you did not receive an invitation, there is no need to attend. All students will also participate in field day activities when NOT at their team assemblies.
Our final day of the school year will be Wednesday, June 17, which has been designated as a 2-hour early release (12:15 dismissal). We will run an "anchor day" schedule with students attending all periods to say good-bye to teachers and classmates. Students are not permitted to bring their backpacks on June 17. All laptops have been turned in, lockers have been cleaned out, and we will not schedule lunch shifts. Essentially, there's no reason for them to have a backpack. If a student brings a backpack to school, it will be stored in the main office for the entirety of the day.
Rocky Run Middle School will remain open for the summer with reduced hours of 9am to 2pm. Please reach out to the main office to schedule appointments as needed. Also, frequently check your emails for updates throughout the summer of various events, including Jump Start and Rams Rally.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions. I look forward to seeing you at RRMS soon.
Sincerely,
Peter Kownacki Principal Rocky Run Middle School @pakownacki

5. Student Services Updates
SY26-27 Student Schedule Request
Please review your child’s schedule request in SIS ParentVUE and contact their counselor with any questions by Tuesday, June 16. Schedule changes will be extremely limited once school begins, so we encourage families to communicate with their counselors proactively.
Final Report Cards
Teachers will finalize grades by June 15, and final report cards will be mailed home later next week. Please note that honor roll certificates are not distributed for final grades, as students' academic achievements will be recognized during next week’s awards ceremony.
We encourage you to review your child’s academic progress together and contact their teachers with any questions or concerns. Since teachers’ last day is Thursday, June 18, we recommend reaching out as soon as possible if you need clarification or additional information.
Expunging High School Credits
High school credit courses taken in grades6, 7 and 8 become part of the student’s high school transcript and are included in the calculation of the high school Grade Point Average (GPA). VA State and FCPS regulations permit parents/guardians to make a request to have that course expunged from the student’s record. Please contact your child's school counselor and submit the completed Request to Expunge High School Courses Taken in Middle School Form by June 17, 2026.
SY26-27 Intention Form
If you are moving and your student is transferring to another school next year, please complete the Student Intention Form and send it to Ms. Brown, our Registrar via email at klbrown4@fcps.
