Students in 7th grade history explored the ancient past of the 1990’s and the mysterious technology that was used there. Students created amazing ceiling tiles in literacy class to celebrate the end of the year. Great work students!
Franklin Community,
We are getting close to the end of the school year! Last Friday, I had the opportunity to join our band, orchestra, and chorus students on their Busch Gardens field trip. The students had a fantastic day enjoying the park and spending time together after another successful year of music performances. A huge thank you goes to Ms. Magwire, Ms. Mortensen, and Mr. Ayars for organizing such a wonderful experience for our students. By my count, I managed to ride 12 roller coasters throughout the day. While it was a lot of fun, I was definitely feeling the physical effects by the end of the trip!
As we begin wrapping up the school year, I want to remind families that laptop collection took place through PE classes yesterday and today. Students should no longer have their FCPS-issued laptop or charger in their possession. If your student still has either item at home or in their backpack, please have them bring it directly to our Technology Office as soon as possible so that we can complete our end-of-year inventory process.
We are also excited to celebrate our students at our end-of-year awards ceremonies on Monday morning. Families of students receiving an award should have already received an invitation to attend. We look forward to recognizing the hard work, accomplishments, and growth of our students and hope to see many families there.
On Tuesday, our 7th and 8th grade celebrations and parties will take place. We are looking forward to a fun day of activities as students celebrate the end of another successful school year. With temperatures expected to be very warm, we encourage students to bring plenty of water so they can stay hydrated throughout the day. We also want to remind families that water guns of any kind are not permitted at school, including during these celebrations. Water guns are prohibited under the Student Rights and Responsibilities and should not be brought to campus.
I also want to address a concern that has surfaced recently. We have had a small number of incidents involving racial language being used in classrooms. At Franklin, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where all students feel welcomed, respected, and valued. Racial slurs, racial gestures, or any language that demeans others have no place in our school community and will not be tolerated. We ask for your partnership in speaking with your student about the importance of treating others with dignity and respect and understanding the impact that words and actions can have on those around them.
Backpacks will not be permitted on the final day of school, Wednesday, 6/17. Additionally, Wednesday is a two-hour early release day, and students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m.
Finally, this will be my last community message of the 2025-2026 school year. I want to sincerely thank our students, staff, and families for a fantastic year. Franklin is a special place because of the people who make up this community, and I so fortunate for the opportunity to work with you all.
To our 8th graders, congratulations on reaching this milestone. We are proud of all you have accomplished during your time at Franklin and wish you the very best as you begin your high school journey. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon!
To our 7th graders, thank you for a wonderful year. We cannot wait to welcome you back in August as our school leaders and role models for our newest students.
I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer break. Thank you for a great year, and Go Falcons!
