Dear Beech Tree Families,

This week, Beech Tree Elementary was honored to receive a generous $20,000 donation from Altar’d State at Tysons Corner Center through its nonprofit partner, AdoptAClassroom.org. This gift will directly support our teachers and students by providing new instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning opportunities that help our students thrive.

We are deeply grateful for Altar’d State’s commitment to education and for investing in the success of our school community. Partnerships like these make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and help ensure they have access to the tools and resources they need to learn, grow, and achieve.

Thank you, Altar’d State, for your generosity and for being such a valued partner in supporting the future of our students.

This week was also filled with moments that reminded me why I love being part of the Beech Tree community.

Our students recently performed This Is Only a Test. Watching our students take the stage with confidence, work together as a team, and bring the story to life was wonderful. Their hard work, creativity, and courage came through. Thank you to our staff and families who supported the production and helped make it such a memorable experience!

I also had the opportunity to visit our First Grade Market. I quickly learned that our first graders are talented entrepreneurs! As part of their learning about money, students created products and services to sell and practiced counting money, making purchases, and handling transactions with customers. I found myself shopping for designer student made fans, airplanes, phones, posters, paper cakes, and so much more. Ms. Barry and I had such a great time that we left with a shopping bag full of treasures. The students were so persuasive that it was hard to say no! I was even lucky enough to receive a special “principal’s discount.”

While the market was a fun experience, it was good to see students applying important math skills in a real-world setting. Equally impressive was the kindness they showed as they welcomed customers, explained their products, and encouraged one another throughout the event.

These experiences remind us that learning happens in many ways. Whether students are performing on stage or running their own market, they are building confidence, creativity, problem solving skills, and connections with one another.

Thank you for sharing your children with us. Their creativity, kindness, and enthusiasm continue to make Beech Tree a special place to learn and grow.

With appreciation,

Principal Clarke & Assistant Principal Barry
