Hello, Scottie families!
What an incredible week! This week we had the pleasure of hearing and seeing our students perform during our day and evening band, strings & chorus concerts. We had an awesome Field Day on Wednesday, and we finished off the week today with our final SCA Spirit Day of the year - Hawaiian Luau Day.
The last week of the year is finally upon us, and it is packed with grade level parties and end of the year special events, including 6th grade promotion in the cafeteria on Tuesday, June 16 at 9 AM. With our expanded cafeteria, we are planning on holding one promotion ceremony this year. However, please be aware that seating will be limited, and there will be standing room only along the sides of the cafeteria.
A reminder that the last day of school is Wednesday, June 17, and we have a 2-hour early dismissal at 1:15 PM that day. Have a great last weekend before the end of the school year!

Mrs. Lonnett Recognized as the FCPS 2026 Outstanding School-Based Professional Employee
Mrs. Lonnett, one of our Bonnie Brae counselors, was honored this week as the 2026 Outstanding School Based Professional Employee for all of Fairfax County Public Schools!
Cori’s impact reaches far beyond her office walls. Grounded in relationships developed over her 25 years in FCPS, Cori designs innovative, data-informed programs that support students’ academic, social-emotional, and personal growth. At Bonnie Brae she has strengthened schoolwide wellness systems and reduced chronic absenteeism. She empowers students through creative projects like the “Orb of Excellence” and a student-designed Regulation Room. These initiatives provide meaningful ways for students to develop Portrait of a Graduate skills and co-construct student-centered learning environments. Cori is known by students as their “trusted person” as a result of authentic connections that help every child feel seen and valued. She inspires belonging, resilience, and joy in learning across her school community.

Congratulations Mrs. Lonnett and thank you for everything you do for our Bonnie Brae community! We are so lucky you are a Scottie!

Early Release Wednesdays for 2026-27
FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number has been reduced from eight to four days.
Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.

Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Through June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families.
Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results. Please contact our front office with any testing questions or for additional information about how our school and teachers use test results to support student success.
