Dear TLES Families,
What an incredible week it has been at TLES! As we approach the end of another successful school year, our school community has been filled with celebrations, learning, traditions, and opportunities to come together. We are so grateful for the many parents, caregivers, family members, and community partners who joined us throughout the week to support and celebrate our students.
This week, our students showcased their talents and learning in a variety of ways. We enjoyed a wonderful End-of-Year Chorus Concert, where our talented student performers shared the results of months of hard work and practice. We also celebrated the rich cultures and backgrounds that make TLES such a special place during our Family Heritage Night, which brought families together to share traditions, stories, food, and experiences from around the world.
We were honored to welcome graduating seniors from both Falls Church High School and McLean High School back to TLES for their annual Graduation Walks. Our students and staff cheered them on as they reflected on their educational journeys and inspired our current TLES students to dream big about their futures.
Another highlight of the week was our Celebration of Multilingual Learners who have reached the highest levels of English language proficiency. This achievement represents years of dedication, perseverance, and hard work from our students, families, and staff. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
Students also enjoyed a visit from the Fairfax County Public Library, helping foster a love of reading and encouraging summer learning opportunities. Additionally, our school community experienced an engaging and energetic Kankouran West African Dance & Music Assembly, where students learned about West African culture through music, storytelling, and dance.
Our youngest learners celebrated important milestones during our PreK End-of-Year Celebration, and we loved seeing the excitement and pride of students and families as they reflected on a year of tremendous growth.
We were also thrilled to receive a surprise visit from Altar'd State and In-Kind, who generously donated $20,000 to support TLES staff, students and classrooms. Their incredible generosity will help us continue providing meaningful learning experiences and resources for our students. We are deeply grateful for their investment in our school community.
We ended the week with our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students proudly shared their learning during their Portrait of a Graduate Presentations of Learning. These presentations highlighted not only academic growth, but also the communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical-thinking skills our students are developing as lifelong learners.
Weeks like this serve as a reminder of what makes TLES so special. Our school is strongest when students, staff, families, and community partners come together to support one another and celebrate learning. Thank you for your continued partnership, your presence at school events, and your unwavering support of our students.
As we enter the final days of the school year, we look forward to continuing to celebrate the accomplishments, growth, and successes of our TLES Tigers.
With gratitude,
Ben Chiet, Sarah Buchanan & Lindsay Duch
