I tried out that new bouldering gym downtown last night and it was a fantastic workout. The routes were challenging but really well set, and the atmosphere was super welcoming for beginners. I managed to complete a few V2s and even almost sent a V3 towards the end of the session. My forearms are completely fried today, but it's the good kind of sore. They have a great selection of rental shoes too, which was nice since I don't have my own pair yet. I'm definitely going to get a monthly pass. rlA8EwqrIU Let me know if you'd want to join sometime, I think they offer a discount for bringing a guest.

Been experimenting with sourdough starter from scratch this week. It feels like a science project, feeding it every day and watching it bubble up. The first few days I didn't see much activity, but around day four it started doubling in size consistently. The smell when it's ready to be fed is distinctly tangy and pleasant. I attempted my first loaf yesterday and while the crumb was a bit dense, the crust came out beautifully crispy and the flavor was actually pretty good. It's surprisingly rewarding to make something so fundamental from just flour and water. I'm already planning my next batch with a higher hydration level.
