Mini-Art Vending Machines: "What America Means to Me"

In honor of America’s semi-quincentennial in July 2026, the City of Fairfax has announced a new themed call for 2-D, small-format art designs for its popular Mini-Art Machines.
The Mini Art Vending Machine is a fun, affordable way to collect pocket-sized works of art by local artists. Just four quarters gets you a miniature art print — a one-of-a-kind way to experience and support the local arts community.

Thaiss Park Mural
Deadline: Monday, September 7, 4:00 pm
The City of Fairfax Office of Cultural Arts is seeking artist proposals for a large-scale mural to be installed at the newly renovated Thaiss Park, located at 3401 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22031.
The goal of the mural is to promote a spirit of play throughout the park, celebrating athletic movement in all its dynamic, exuberant, and creative forms. The selected artwork should enhance the park’s visual identity, reflect its welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere, and encourage viewer engagement or
interaction.
Award: The selected artist/artist team will be awarded $12,000 for the design concept/paint/supplies/travel/accomodations needed to execute the project.

Recycled Art Benches

The City of Fairfax Office of Cultural Arts is pleased to announce this Call to Artists seeking mural designs
to be painted on three Noblewins benches. Noblewins benches are made from retired wind turbine blades, and help solve a global waste stream problem while also reshaping the landscape of public art. Each one is a unique canvas for creative expression.
Three benches – each a different Noblewins model – will be installed at locations across the City of Fairfax.
Award: The selected artist/artist team will be awarded $6,000 for the design concept/paint/supplies needed to execute the project (one award per bench, 3 awards total).
