Roadrunner Rundown
August 3, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
As we shared with staff last week, we hope everyone continues to soak up summer fun in whatever ways fit. Gradually, a return to school year routines and bedtimes prior to day one is always a good plan. We were thrilled to have so many new families join us last week for a school tour and playdate. We will be doing this again this Thursday, August 6, at 9:00 am for those who were unable to attend last week.
Rising kindergarten students who attended our Kindergarten Orientation in May were given a simple assessment to see what strengths students are bringing to kindergarten. If you were unable to attend in the spring, please consider joining us this Thursday, August 6th for this assessment. Details in flyers. English Spanish
If you have not already done so, please register for a ParentVUE account, the FCPS secure solution for information about your child's attendance, class performance, demographic data, and more.
- Student class assignments will be available on August 20.
- Bus information will be shared the week of August 10.
- Parents can update phone numbers, emergency contacts, and health conditions.
Have a great week!
Much peace,
Matthew Chapman, Toni Nauflett, and Kelly Willis

School Supplies
School supply lists can be found on our school website. Supplies can be brought to classrooms during Open House or on the first day of school. Supplies ordered through the PTA will be delivered to classrooms prior to the first day of school.
Meals for Students
Breakfast and lunch are available at school daily. Information about meals, including menus, can be found on the Food and Nutrition Services website.
There are three ways to purchase meals: online, check or cash.
-
MySchoolBucks This user-friendly online service is free, convenient, private and secure. Once the account is open, parents can check the fund account at any time. This account can also be used to submit payment electronically for other fees which may be incurred during your student’s time in FCPS (i.e., field trips, classroom funds, yearbook, and other school activities, etc.)
- Make checks payable to Marshall Road Food Services. The check can be provided to the food service manager or the school office. A local address and phone number are required to be printed or handwritten on the check. The student name and ID number are required on the check memo line.
-
Cash may be brought to the food service manager’s office for deposit on the student's account, or students may pay cash on a daily basis.
-
Application for the Free and Reduced Meal program is available online (parent must renew every August). Families must submit an application and be approved to be eligible for free and reduced-price meals for the 2026 -2027 school year. Interested families are encouraged to submit the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application before the first day of the 2026-27 school year. The online application will be available later this summer and accessible via the FCPS homepage. Students approved for Free and Reduced-Price Meals may qualify for additional benefits such as waived or reduced fees for instruments, uniforms, field trips, FCPS class fees, and Parktakes classes.
